Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a representative from Nomad Touring Company Ltd will meet and transfer you to your hotel. Time permitting, we'll explore the Entebbe Botanical Gardens for an introduction to Uganda’s common birdlife. Expect sightings such as Black-headed Gonolek, Double-toothed Barbet, Palm-nut Vulture, and potentially your first Great Blue Turaco. Evening briefing with your birding guide.

We start early to reach Mabamba Swamp by dugout canoe in search of the iconic Shoebill, along with African Jacana, Lesser Jacana, Papyrus Gonolek, and Red-chested Sunbird. Afterward, we drive to Lake Mburo National Park, birding en route.
Next morning includes a boat trip on Lake Mburo, known for the elusive African Finfoot. The dry acacia habitat yields species such as Bare-faced Go-away-bird, Nubian Woodpecker, and the rare Red-faced Barbet. Mammals include Plains Zebra, Topi, and Defassa Waterbuck.

We continue to the Virunga Mountains to search the bamboo forests of Mgahinga for Rwenzori Turaco and Abyssinian Ground Thrush. Shelley’s Crimsonwing, one of Africa’s rarest birds, is also possible here. The beautiful volcanic scenery provides a dramatic backdrop.

Our journey takes us to Ruhija in Bwindi, Uganda’s birding crown jewel. On arrival, we search for Black Bee-eater and Grauer’s Swamp Warbler. A full day trek to Mubwindi Swamp offers chances to spot Grauer’s Broadbill and Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, plus Albertine Rift endemics such as Regal Sunbird, Stripe-breasted Tit, and Rwenzori Batis.

Traveling to Buhoma via “The Neck,” we stop to bird en route, with chances for Black-and-white Shrike-flycatcher, Chubb’s Cisticola, and Brown-throated Wattle-eye. At Buhoma, guests may opt for the unforgettable experience of gorilla trekking. For those not tracking, specialized forest birding will continue. Bird targets include Red-throated Alethe, African Emerald Cuckoo, and Petit’s Cuckooshrike.

We drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its large mammal populations and over 600 bird species. A boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel offers sightings of African Skimmer, African Spoonbill, and abundant hippos. Mammals include Uganda Kob, Elephant, and possibly the elusive Giant Forest Hog.

Traveling past the Rwenzori Mountains, we reach Kibale Forest, Africa’s primate capital. At dawn, we attempt to locate the rare Green-breasted Pitta. Optional chimp tracking is available. Other primates include L’Hoest’s Monkey, Uganda Red Colobus, and Grey-cheeked Mangabey. Birding includes Chestnut Wattle-eye, Black-billed Turaco, and Narrow-tailed Starling.

We stop at Budongo Forest’s Royal Mile to find Chocolate-backed Kingfisher, African Dwarf Kingfisher, and Chestnut-capped Flycatcher. Murchison Falls NP offers stunning savanna birding: Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Red-throated Bee-eater, and Silverbird. A boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls delivers impressive views and aquatic bird species. Optional night drives for nocturnal species available.
