Itinerary

Day 01 :
Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Hotel

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, a representative from Nomad Touring Company Ltd will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. The drive takes approximately 20 minutes. After check-in, relax and freshen up. In the evening, your guide will meet you for a detailed briefing about your journey ahead.

Day 02 :
Kigali City Tour – Transfer to Akagera National Park

Accommodation: Akagera Game Lodge – Mid-range

Start your day with breakfast before embarking on a guided city tour. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial for a moving and educational experience. Afterward, transfer to Akagera National Park—a drive of about 3 hours. As you enter the park, enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge where you’ll check in and unwind with a delicious dinner.

Day 03 :
Game Drive and Boat Safari in Akagera

Today is dedicated to exploring Akagera’s rich wildlife. Set off early on a game drive through the savannah and acacia woodlands. Spot lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and possibly elusive leopards. Return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari on Lake Ihema to see hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. Dinner at the lodge rounds out your day.

Day 04 :
Return to Kigali – Cultural Experience

Day 05 :
Transfer to Nyungwe National Park – Cultural Stops En Route

Day 06 :
Chimpanzee Tracking and Optional Canopy Walk

Begin the day before dawn for chimpanzee trekking. After a briefing at the park headquarters, hike through the forest trails guided by experienced trackers. Day 07 :
Scenic Drive to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, prepare for a long but scenic drive north to Volcanoes National Park, with multiple stops for rest and photo opportunities. Day 08 :
Mountain Gorilla Tracking Experience

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. While your guide registers you, enjoy cultural performances and a cup of coffee or tea. Depending on your preference and fitness level, you may be assigned an easier or more challenging gorilla family. Accompanied by rangers, trek through dense forest to meet the gorillas. Spend a magical hour observing their behavior before trekking back. Return to the lodge for a well-earned meal and rest.

Day 09 :
Golden Monkeys Trek & Cultural Visit – Transfer to Lake Kivu

Early morning, embark on a golden monkey trek. These playful primates are a delight to watch in the forest canopy.
