Mt. Kilimanjaro Trek: Marangu Route
6 DaysMt. Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. This magnificent peak consists of three volcanoes: Shira, Mawenzi, and the tallest of them all—Kibo, our ultimate summit goal. Among the renowned Seven Summits, Kilimanjaro is the most accessible and climbable, requiring no technical mountaineering experience. With proper acclimatization and guidance, any reasonably fit individual can conquer this iconic mountain.
Nomad Touring Company Ltd offers guided climbs on Mt. Kilimanjaro throughout the year. Our treks begin from either Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport, with daily departures available. We maintain small group sizes, with a maximum of 8 climbers per group to ensure personalized attention and a better trekking experience. When groups start on the same route and date, we may combine them, but never exceed the group limit. Private climbs are also available at no additional cost, whether you’re a solo traveler or part of an organized group.
While Marangu and Machame are the two main routes, we also offer climbs via the lesser-traveled and more scenic paths of Rongai, Shira, Umbwe, and Lemosho. The Marangu Route remains the most popular, thanks to its well-established trail infrastructure and support services along the way. It’s ideal for first-time climbers looking for a comfortable yet rewarding ascent.
With Nomad Touring Company Ltd, you’re assured of expert support from experienced guides and dedicated porters as you take on Africa’s rooftop.

You will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi and driven to Marangu Gate, the main entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park. After registration and a final gear check, you'll begin your trek through lush rainforest on a well-maintained trail. This first day involves around 5 hours of hiking (12 km) through dense forest, the only zone where you might spot wildlife.
The trek ascends steadily via a cleared ridge, arriving at Mandara Hut (2,700m) where your porters, already ahead, will have your gear in place. Be sure to carry your daypack with essentials: lunch, water, and warm layers. There is an optional side trail to Maundi Crater that offers excellent views and may be discussed with your guide.
