Your safari begins early with a pick-up by your guide from Nomad Touring Company Ltd at your hotel or residence in Entebbe (or Kampala at a small additional fee). Begin your scenic road journey heading west through the lush countryside, bustling markets, and vibrant tea estates. En route, you’ll pass through the town of Fort Portal, beautifully nestled beneath the shadows of the Rwenzori Mountains.
Break for a warm, local lunch in Fort Portal, before proceeding to Kibale Forest National Park, a gem of biodiversity that’s world-renowned for hosting 13 primate species, including the rare L’Hoest’s monkey, red colobus, and the park’s star—the chimpanzee.
By late afternoon, check into Kibale Forest Camp, an eco-friendly accommodation located just outside the park boundary. Unwind as you soak in the sounds of the forest, followed by a delicious dinner served under the stars.

After an early breakfast, head to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre inside Kibale Forest for a short orientation before your chimpanzee trekking expedition. Accompanied by expert trackers, you’ll venture into the forest to observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Watch them feed, play, communicate, and swing through the canopy—an unforgettable, close encounter with our primate cousins.
The forest also shelters a host of other species: black-and-white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, blue monkeys, olive baboons, and over 335 species of birds including the green-breasted pitta, African grey parrot, and white-naped pigeons.
Return to camp for a hot lunch and a short rest.
In the afternoon, proceed to the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area. This guided swamp walk offers rich opportunities for birdwatching and primate viewing, with sightings of the great blue turaco, papyrus gonolek, and perhaps the sitatunga antelope. The boardwalks and trails offer perfect angles for photographers and nature lovers.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation under the forest canopy.

Wake up to the peaceful sounds of the forest and enjoy your final breakfast. Then set out for a guided nature walk around the Crater Lakes region, famous for its rolling hills, small villages, and panoramic views. You’ll pass through local farms, cassava and maize plantations, and tea gardens. A hike to the “Top of the World” viewpoint rewards you with breathtaking views of the Rwenzori Mountains and several crater lakes shimmering below.
Return to the lodge, check out, and begin your return journey to Entebbe or Kampala. A lunch stop will be arranged en route. Expect arrival in the early evening. Drop-off at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport in time for your outbound flight.
