Itinerary

Day 01 :
Arrival in Kigali, Rwanda

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a professional guide from Nomad Touring Company Ltd. You'll then be transferred to your luxury accommodation — the acclaimed Kigali Serena Hotel — where you can relax after your journey. In the evening, a welcome dinner will be served, followed by a pre-safari briefing. Enjoy top-tier hospitality, a serene atmosphere, and beautiful views of the garden city.

Day 02 - 04 :
Explore Nyungwe Forest National Park

Accommodation: One&Only Nyungwe House

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest. Settle into One&Only Nyungwe House, a high-end eco-retreat nestled within a working tea plantation. This luxurious lodge offers comfort and exclusivity amidst the untouched natural forest.

Over the next three days, you’ll engage in guided chimpanzee trekking through the dense forest. Witness these intelligent primates in their natural environment and photograph them in action. Alongside chimpanzees, you'll encounter monkeys, exotic birds, and spectacular forest views. The lodge offers curated experiences, exceptional cuisine, and rejuvenating spa treatments between activities.

Day 05 :
Transfer to Lake Kivu

Depart Nyungwe for the scenic town of Gisenyi, nestled on the shores of Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s largest lake. En route, enjoy photographic stops in villages and tea plantations. Upon arrival, check into Lake Kivu Serena Hotel, a comfortable resort offering panoramic lake views and leisure activities. Relax on the beach or take a sunset walk along the lake promenade.

Day 06 - 08 :
Volcanoes National Park & Gorilla Trekking

Accommodation: Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge

From Lake Kivu, travel to the famous Volcanoes National Park, the base for your once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience. For three nights, stay at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, a luxurious lodge perfectly positioned at the foothills of the Virunga Mountains.

Day 7 features a full day of gorilla trekking — a challenging but rewarding hike through the rainforest to observe and photograph a habituated gorilla family. Once located, you’ll spend a magical hour with them in close proximity.

Day 8 takes you on a guided golden monkey trek. These rare primates are endemic to the Albertine Rift and offer excellent photography opportunities. Enjoy their playful antics in the forest before returning to your lodge for dinner.

Day 09 :
Return to Kigali

Accommodation: Kigali Serena Hotel

After breakfast, you’ll drive back to Kigali. On arrival, enjoy a cultural experience at the Bomas of Rwanda or visit local art galleries and markets. Return to Kigali Serena Hotel for an evening of relaxation in preparation for your Akagera safari extension.

Day 10 - 12 :
Akagera National Park Safari

Accommodation: Magashi Camp
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (BLD)

In the morning, head east to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s premier savanna reserve and home to the Big Five. Over three days, enjoy thrilling morning and evening game drives across its diverse terrain of open plains, swamps, and forests. Akagera is ideal for photographing lions, giraffes, elephants, zebras, antelope, hippos, crocodiles, and more.

Your accommodation at Magashi Camp offers luxurious tented rooms with private decks overlooking Lake Rwanyakazinga. Expert guides lead your game drives and share their deep knowledge of local wildlife behavior, enhancing your photography experience.

Day 13 :
Return to Kigali & Departure

Accommodation: Optional dayroom at Kigali Serena Hotel (available on request)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch (BL)

Enjoy a final early morning game drive to capture last-minute wildlife moments before returning to Kigali. En route, you may stop at local artisan shops for souvenirs. Depending on your flight time, a dayroom can be arranged for comfort. Conclude your safari with a farewell lunch and a transfer to the airport for your departure.
