This journey takes you deep into the misty forests of Volcanoes National Park, home to some of the last remaining mountain gorillas on earth.

Over two nights, you’ll stay in comfortable lodge accommodations, guided by experienced trackers and guides. The highlight of the trip is a guided trek into the forest to spend an hour with a habituated gorilla family, a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is both humbling and awe-inspiring.

Itinerary
Accommodation: Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge
Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by your personal driver-guide from Nomad Touring Company Ltd. After a short briefing, begin your scenic 2.5-hour drive north through Rwanda’s terraced hillsides and green highlands toward Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri, home to the endangered mountain gorillas.
Along the way, enjoy short stops to capture the landscape and perhaps interact with locals in roadside markets. Upon arrival at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, check in and relax with a warm meal. The lodge is nestled on the park’s edge and offers easy access to tomorrow’s trekking adventure.
Spend the evening at leisure—by the fireplace or enjoying local music and hospitality. Get to bed early to rest for the following day’s trek into the mountain jungle.
Accommodation: Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After an early breakfast, head to the Kinigi Park Headquarters where you’ll be assigned to one of the habituated gorilla groups and briefed on trekking protocols. The trek duration varies—ranging from 1 to 6 hours—depending on the gorillas’ location that day.
Accompanied by expert guides and trackers, trek through bamboo forests, undergrowth, and volcanic ridges. Along the way, your guide will interpret signs of recent gorilla movement, like broken branches or nests. Once you locate the gorilla family, you are granted a full hour of observation, which is strictly regulated to minimize stress on the gorillas.
Witnessing these majestic creatures up close—watching a silverback beat his chest or juveniles play in the vines—is a truly emotional and unforgettable moment. Return to the lodge in the afternoon for a hot meal and well-deserved rest. The remainder of your day is free for relaxation or an optional village visit (at an extra cost).

Arrival in Kigali is expected by early afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel or transferred directly to the airport for your flight home.
